Ingredients

  • For the Pears:
  • * 4 ripe but firm pears halved and cored
  • * 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • * 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • * ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • * Pinch of salt
  • For the Candied Pecans:
  • * 1 cup pecan halves
  • * 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • * 1 tablespoon butter
  • * ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • * Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold the pear halves.
  2. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Spoon the mixture evenly over the pears.
  4. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork.
  5. While the pears bake, prepare the candied pecans. Add the pecans, maple syrup, butter, cinnamon, and salt to a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the pecans are coated and fragrant. Transfer to parchment paper and allow them to cool.
  7. Remove the pears from the oven and spoon some of the warm maple sauce from the baking dish over the top.
  8. Sprinkle the candied pecans over each pear half.
  9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or an extra drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
