Heart Thumbprint Cookie Recipe

Servings: 25 Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (or vanilla)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup raspberry or strawberry jam
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in almond (or vanilla) extract.
  4. Add flour and salt; mix until dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on cookie sheet.
  6. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to press a heart shape into the center.
  7. Fill the heart indent with jam.
  8. Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until lightly golden at the edges.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
