Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in almond (or vanilla) extract.
- Add flour and salt; mix until dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on cookie sheet.
- Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to press a heart shape into the center.
- Fill the heart indent with jam.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until lightly golden at the edges.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
