Snickerdoodles for Coffee Hour

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar for the coating.
  7. Scoop dough into 1.5-inch balls and roll each one in the cinnamon sugar mixture
  8. Place cookies on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  10. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
