Toffee Pecan Bars Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed, plus ½ cup for topping
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cups pecan halves roughly chopped

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment.
  2. Pulse the flour, brown sugar, ¾ cup cold butter, and salt in a food processor until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the pan and bake for 15 minutes, until pale golden. Set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, combine the remaining ½ cup butter, granulated sugar, and honey over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook for 3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped pecans until evenly coated.
  6. Pour the pecan mixture over the baked crust, spreading to the edges.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes, until bubbling and deep amber at the edges.
  8. Cool completely in the pan, about 40 minutes, before lifting out and slicing into 20 bars.
