How to Make Pilgrim Hat Cookies

Gather Your Ingredients

Set out all of your ingredients before you begin. You’ll need round chocolate cookies, miniature peanut butter cups, chocolate frosting or melted chocolate, and candy-coated chocolates or candy strips for decorating the hat bands.

Prepare the Cookie Bases

Arrange the chocolate cookies on a baking sheet, tray, or large plate. These cookies will serve as the brim of each pilgrim hat, so make sure they are placed flat and evenly spaced.

Attach the Peanut Butter Cups

Add a small dollop of frosting or a little melted chocolate to the center of each cookie. Press an unwrapped miniature peanut butter cup upside down onto the frosting. Hold it in place for a few seconds so it adheres securely.

Decorate the Hat Bands

Wrap a candy strip around the base of each peanut butter cup to create the look of a hat band. If you’re using candy-coated chocolates, place them on the front of the hat with a tiny dab of frosting to resemble a decorative buckle.

Allow the Cookies to Set

Let the assembled cookies sit for about 10 to 15 minutes so the frosting or chocolate can firm up. If needed, place them in the refrigerator for a few minutes to speed up the process.

Serve and Enjoy

Arrange the finished pilgrim hats on a festive platter and serve. They’re perfect for Thanksgiving dessert tables, classroom celebrations, fall parties, or as a fun edible craft for kids.

The Bottom Line

These easy Pilgrim Hat Cookies are proof that festive Thanksgiving treats don’t have to be complicated. With simple ingredients, no baking required, and plenty of holiday charm, they’re a fun dessert that both kids and adults will love making and eating.
