Frozen Chocolate Banana Pops (The Easy Summer Treat Everyone Loves)

If there’s one summer snack that disappears almost as fast as you can make it, it’s these Frozen Chocolate Banana Pops. They’re simple, fun, and somehow manage to feel both indulgent and refreshing at the same time. Sweet bananas coated in rich chocolate create that perfect combination of creamy, crunchy, and cool that’s hard to resist.

What I love most about these banana pops is how customizable they are. You can keep them classic with just chocolate or dress them up with sprinkles, crushed nuts, coconut, or even cookie crumbs. They’re kid-approved, freezer-friendly, and a great way to satisfy a sweet craving without turning on the oven.

Ingredients Method Notes

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 8 popsicle sticks
  • ¼ cup chopped peanuts optional
  • ¼ cup sprinkles optional
  • ¼ cup shredded coconut optional
  • ¼ cup crushed cookies optional

Method

  1. Peel bananas and cut each in half.
  2. Insert a popsicle stick into each banana half.
  3. Place bananas on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 1 to 2 hours.
  4. Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil until smooth.
  5. Dip frozen bananas into the melted chocolate.
  6. Immediately add desired toppings.
  7. Place coated banana pops back onto the tray.
  8. Freeze for an additional 20 to 30 minutes until set.
  9. Serve frozen.

Notes

Use bananas that are ripe but still firm for the best texture.
Coconut oil helps create a smoother chocolate coating.
Store in an airtight freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.
Work quickly when dipping since the chocolate sets fast on frozen bananas.
Try white chocolate, dark chocolate, or a combination for variety.
For easy cleanup, line your tray with parchment paper before freezing.

How to Make Frozen Chocolate Banana Pops

Step 1: Prepare the Bananas

Peel the bananas and cut them in half crosswise. Insert a popsicle stick into the cut end of each banana half and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 2: Freeze Until Firm

Place the banana halves in the freezer for about 1 to 2 hours, or until completely firm. This helps the chocolate coating set quickly.

Step 3: Melt the Chocolate

Add chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in short intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.

Step 4: Dip the Bananas

Remove the frozen bananas from the freezer. Dip each banana into the melted chocolate, using a spoon if needed to fully coat the fruit.

Step 5: Add Toppings

Immediately sprinkle on your favorite toppings before the chocolate hardens. Crushed nuts, sprinkles, coconut flakes, or cookie crumbs all work beautifully.

Step 6: Freeze Again

Return the coated banana pops to the baking sheet and freeze for another 20 to 30 minutes until the chocolate shell is completely set.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

Serve straight from the freezer for a cool, refreshing treat with a satisfying chocolate crunch.
