Caramel Dipped Grapes (Mini Caramel “Apples”)

There’s something about caramel apples that makes fall feel like childhood again. Sticky fingers, the crunch of that first bite, and a treat so big you could barely get your teeth around it. Such a simple thing, but sometimes those are the memories that stay with us the longest.

These caramel dipped grapes bring a little of that magic to the table, one tiny “apple” at a time. Juicy green grapes, chewy caramel, and crunchy chopped peanuts—nothing fancy, just a sweet little treat to share. Make a plate for a cozy movie night or an afternoon around the kitchen table. You never know which little moments will become the ones everyone remembers.

Ingredients

  • 30–40 firm, seedless green grapes
  • 8 ounces (225 g) soft caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 1 tablespoon milk, plus a little more only if needed
  • ½ cup finely chopped roasted peanuts
  • Wooden toothpicks

Makes: 30–40 bites
Time: About 20 minutes, plus 15–20 minutes to chill

How to Make Caramel Dipped Grapes

  1. Wash and dry the grapes. Remove the stems, rinse, and dry thoroughly with a clean towel. Moisture makes the caramel slide off, so give them time to air-dry too.
  2. Prepare your station. Line a tray with parchment paper, put the peanuts in a shallow bowl, and insert a toothpick into the top of each grape.
  3. Melt the caramel. Place the caramel candies and milk in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20–30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth. Follow the candy package’s melting directions if they differ. Let the caramel cool briefly until warm and thick enough to cling.
  4. Dip and coat. Hold each grape by its toothpick and dip the bottom half into the caramel. Let any excess drip off, then immediately dip that sticky half into the peanuts.
  5. Let them set. Place the grapes on the lined tray and refrigerate for 15–20 minutes, or until the coating firms up. Transfer to a serving plate just before serving.

Tips for Cute Mini Caramel “Apples”

Use firm grapes and thick, melted candy caramel—thin caramel sauce won’t set the same way. If the caramel becomes too stiff while dipping, warm it briefly and stir. Leave the top half green so each bite keeps that little apple look.

For a peanut-free variation, use crushed pretzels or sprinkles, checking labels if allergies are a concern. These taste best the day they’re made; keep leftovers covered in the refrigerator and enjoy within 24 hours.

Serving note: Whole grapes and toothpicks aren’t suitable for young children. Serve them grapes cut lengthwise into quarters, without picks, instead.
