Maple Baked Pears with Candied Pecans

There’s something so cozy about warm baked pears on a chilly afternoon. The pears become soft and tender while the maple glaze adds just the right amount of sweetness, making this dessert feel both comforting and elegant at the same time.

I love serving these maple baked pears when I want something special without spending hours in the kitchen. The crunchy candied pecans add the perfect contrast to the soft fruit, and the whole dish fills the house with the warm aromas of maple, cinnamon, and toasted nuts. Whether you’re hosting guests for the holidays or simply craving a lighter dessert, this recipe is one you’ll want to make again and again.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • For the Pears:
  • * 4 ripe but firm pears halved and cored
  • * 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • * 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • * ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • * Pinch of salt
  • For the Candied Pecans:
  • * 1 cup pecan halves
  • * 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • * 1 tablespoon butter
  • * ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • * Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold the pear halves.
  2. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Spoon the mixture evenly over the pears.
  4. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork.
  5. While the pears bake, prepare the candied pecans. Add the pecans, maple syrup, butter, cinnamon, and salt to a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the pecans are coated and fragrant. Transfer to parchment paper and allow them to cool.
  7. Remove the pears from the oven and spoon some of the warm maple sauce from the baking dish over the top.
  8. Sprinkle the candied pecans over each pear half.
  9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or an extra drizzle of maple syrup if desired.

How to Make Maple Baked Pears with Candied Pecans

Prepare the Pears

Preheat your oven and lightly grease a baking dish. Wash the pears, slice them in half lengthwise, and remove the cores. Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the baking dish.

Mix the Maple Glaze

In a small bowl, combine maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir until everything is well blended and smooth.

Glaze the Pears

Spoon the maple mixture evenly over the pears, allowing some of the glaze to settle into the centers. This helps the fruit soak up all the warm maple flavor as it bakes.

Bake Until Soft

Place the dish in the oven and bake until the pears are tender and lightly caramelized around the edges. The aroma of maple and cinnamon will fill your kitchen.

Make the Candied Pecans

While the pears are baking, cook the pecans in a skillet with a little maple syrup and butter. Stir frequently until the nuts are coated and lightly toasted, then set aside to cool.

Garnish and Serve

Remove the pears from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Top each pear half with candied pecans and drizzle with any remaining sauce from the baking dish before serving warm.

The Bottom Line

These Maple Baked Pears with Candied Pecans are the perfect cozy dessert for fall gatherings, holiday dinners, or whenever you’re craving something warm and comforting. With tender pears, rich maple flavor, and crunchy pecans, they’re simple to make yet elegant enough for special occasions.
